Log-Normal distribution

Terms from Statistics for HCI: Making Sense of Quantitative Data

This distribution is common where there is some form of multiplicative effect: for example, with task completion times we would expect longer times to have greater variability. Tests designed for the Normal distribution cannot be used, but the data can be transformed by taking the logarithm of the raw times, then the resulting transformed data is often approximately Normal and can be analysed using off-the-shelf statistics.
